What this means where you live

Losing the remote is not the same as losing the opener, and the difference between those two facts is usually several hundred dollars.
Three ways out, cheapest first
The first is a compatible handset. How to find out what you have
Everything you need is on the back or the side of the motor housing, on a label with a model number and often a manufacture date. Photograph it — including the small print, because the code system is sometimes printed there rather than on the front. Then look at the wall button: a single pair of thin wires suggests a simple contact that any receiver can join, while a multi-wire panel with a light switch and a lock button means a proprietary bus, and that narrows the options.
